UN Climate Change Conference 2024: No more hot air ... please!

This year, state and government representatives will meet at the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku from November 11 to 22. Two of the most important topics this year are likely to be the climate finance plan and greenhouse gas emissions.
At the same time, global greenhouse gas emissions continued to rise in 2023, by 1.3 percent compared to 2022 (UNEP 2024: XII). In order to keep the global 2-degree target within realistic reach, a number of implementation measures still need to be taken. The scenarios in the United Environmental Program's Emission Gap Report show that GHG emissions must be significantly reduced in the 2020-2030 decade (UNEP 2024: XVI).*

However, there is also a glimmer of hope: GHG emissions in the USA and the EU have fallen by 1.4 and 7.5 percent respectively compared to 2022 (UNEP 2024: XIII). This shows that Even if much more and greater efforts are needed to stop climate change, the commitment to a more climate-friendly world is worthwhile. Each and every individual, every organization and every company can make a contribution within the scope of their own possibilities. Because in line with the motto of the Emission Gap Report, we also want No more hot air ... please!

The Bildungscampus has set itself the goal of reducing its Scope 1 & 2 emissions to zero by 2030. Compared to our base year 2021, we were able to reduce our annual greenhouse gas emissions by more than 30% by 2023 by implementing energy-saving measures.
