New building on Bildungscampus Ost
A new high-rise building, known as Building BC 3, is currently under construction on Bildungscampus Ost. The project covers a total area of 19,700 square meters and is to be built sustainably using a timber hybrid construction method. The 15-storey building design by wittfoht architekten was selected in a competition. The object planning is carried out by wittfoht architekten planung gmbh.
The main users of the building will be the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Heilbronn and the DHBW CAS.
Construction phases
Demolition of the existing building, including the above-ground and underground structures, will start in mid-February 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Due to the construction of an underground building, it is necessary to first excavate a construction pit. Shoring will be used to stabilize the excavation pit and prevent the ground from collapsing. This is followed by the foundation of the building, which forms the new foundation of the structure below ground level and anchors the structure securely and stably to the ground. These measures allow the excavation work to be carried out safely and efficiently.
Once the excavated material has been removed, the demolition is complete. The new construction work then begins.
Changes for cycle paths and footpaths
During the construction phase, there will be changes to cycle paths and footpaths around the BC 3 building. Please note the changed routing in the direction of the city center and K3. The current closures and routing can be found on the site plan. We ask for your understanding for the necessary restrictions during the construction phase.
