This space for education and science is growing steadily and in a future-oriented manner, both in terms of its building structure and its content as a living ecosystem. The aim is to create a location that promotes individual educational biographies and lifelong learning.

The Bildungscampus today
The ground-breaking ceremony for the Bildungscampus as we know it today was only held in 2010. Over the past few years, the campus has gradually grown from east to center to north in three construction phases.
Even now, the Bildungscampus never stands still and is constantly evolving in terms of construction activities, among other things. Our focus is on the smooth running of the site. We will be happy to inform you here about any major changes and possible restrictions:
The West extension
The Bildungscampus is currently taking another big step into the future: the site is doubling in size towards the west. The aim is to create a lively knowledge quarter that connects the Bildungscampus even more closely with the city center and promotes interaction between campus life and the urban space.

Site design & architecture competitions
Urban planning competition for the design of the site
In a two-stage competition process, the "Wissensquartier als Stadt" concept by pesch partner architekten stadtplaner GmbH from Stuttgart and TOPOTEK 1 Landschaftsarchitekten mbH from Berlin came out on top. Their ideas for integrating the building into its surroundings, opening it up to the city and creating generous green and open spaces won out over the competition.
Architecture competition for the building plots
The overarching urban planning competition will be followed by the architectural competitions for the design of the individual building plots on the future Bildungscampus West. A total of 160,000 m² of gross floor area will be used for university facilities, office and retail space, student housing as well as sports and leisure facilities.
The architectural competitions will be held from the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2025. Over 110 international architecture firms have presented their ideas for the individual building plots in more than 70 designs.
