From Januar 19, 2026: Edisonstrasse construction project: construction of a road enclosure

As part of the ongoing construction work on construction site B, new construction measures will be implemented on Edisonstrasse from December 2025. A protective roof will be erected to ensure the safety of road users during the crane work.

Construction of the road enclosure in construction area B will begin on January 19, 2026.

Working hours: In order to relieve rush hour traffic, the work is carried out exclusively at night between 20:00 and 05:00
Traffic routing: During the above-mentioned night hours, incoming traffic will be briefly stopped or manually routed past the work site.
Duration: The enclosure is expected to remain in place until the end of 2028 (subject to extension)

Background: The enclosure is a necessary safety measure to protect moving traffic from crane movements between the construction sites. We are making every effort to keep the unavoidable disruption to a minimum.

We ask all road users for their understanding for the necessary measures.

What is being built on the site?

An extension of the Bildungscampus is being created here with the "Bildungscampus West". In the knowledge quarter of tomorrow, buildings and areas for university facilities, office and commercial use, student housing and green spaces for sports and leisure activities are being created. Particular attention is being paid to integrating the surrounding area, such as the banks of the Neckar. Opening up to the city was also an important aspect in order to make commercial and catering facilities accessible to everyone. In the future, the Bildungscampus is to be more closely connected with the public and contribute to interaction between campus life and the urban space.

How long will it take to build on the site?

The future Bildungscampus West will be realized in four construction phases. Construction phase 0 is already being completed. Construction phase 1 will begin in March 2025 and is expected to be completed in early 2028. Find out more about the construction sites here.

On which days will the construction work be carried out?

The construction site is in operation from Monday to Friday. As a rule, no construction work takes place at weekends.
