We have tried to cover many points in the FAQs at bildungscampus.life. However, if there are any open points, please contact the Campus Service Desk at bildungscampus.life or write to campuscard*Den Text zwischen den * loeschen, dies ist ein Spamschutz*@mail.schwarz. Learn everything else here:

Basic Information

What is the CampusCard?

The CampusCard serves as an ID card for the Bildungscampus. (It is not a substitute for an official identity document. A photo ID must therefore always be carried in addition in order to identify oneself, for example at an exam.) It bears the logo of the issuing institution, a photograph, and the logo of the Bildungscampus. The information on the CampusCard also contains a unique campus ID assigned to every user. Depending on the institution and position, the CampusCard holder is assigned certain rights, such as access, via this campus ID. Primarily, the CampusCard thus fulfills access functions for buildings as well as credit and payment functions on campus. In this context, all discounts are saved to the user profile of the CampusCard, e.g., for the use of the canteen or the calculation of parking fees. It may also be used to borrow media in the library. Registering on bildungscampus.life is a prerequisite for using the CampusCard services. Passing on the CampusCard to third parties is not permitted.

What are the functions of the CampusCard?

The CampusCard provides users with various services: e.g., access, payment options and media lending. The CampusCard access function relates to the Bildungscampus buildings. Individual access to places relevant for the user is set up. The CampusCard provides entry to and exit from the Parkhaus Ost, Mitte and experimenta as well as the Parkplatz Ost depending on the user group. The discounted parking rates are billed via the CampusCard. In order to use the respective authorized parking facilities, the CampusCard user account must be registered, validated and topped up with credit prior to exit. All important information on the parking rates is summarized in the FAQs on Parking.

The other payment feature relates to the catering offers on the Bildungscampus. These include the canteen, the café and Campus Garden as well as numerous snack and drinks vending machines

For residents of the student residence W27, the CampusCard also serves as a key card.

How do I obtain a CampusCard?

The CampusCard is issued to members of Bildungscampus staff by the employer. Each institution prepares and issues the CampusCard for its own students. Registering on bildungscampus.life is a prerequisite for preparing and using the CampusCard.
Important: The CampusCard must be validated on site on the campus before it can be used for the first time. As part of this validation, a validation period is defined which again activates the functions of the CampusCard. All CampusCard validation terminals can be found on the site map in the “Service” section.

Where can I validate my CampusCard?

The CampusCard must be validated on site on the Bildungscampus before it can be used for the first time. As part of this validation, a validation period is defined which again activates the functions of the CampusCard. All CampusCard validation terminals can be found on the site map in the “Service” section.

I have questions about the CampusCard. Where can I get in touch?

We have done our best to cover a lot of items in the FAQs on bildungscampus.life. If there are nonetheless still open items, please contact the campus service desk via bildungscampus.life or write to: campuscard*Den Text zwischen den * loeschen, dies ist ein Spamschutz*@mail.schwarz. So that we can support you as best as possible, please briefly describe the facts and add your designated institution and your campus ID (10-digit code on the front of the card).

How do I top up my CampusCard?

The CampusCard may be topped up on bildungscampus.life in the “PaymentPortal” service area using PayPal, a credit card or SEPA direct debit scheme. In addition to the preferred payment method, an automatic top-up function for a certain threshold value can also be activated here (currently for SEPA direct debit). There are also top-up terminals on the Bildungscampus and in the Parkhaus experimenta which, depending on the terminal type, offer charging with cash or via the EC and credit card. All CampusCard top-up terminals can be found on the site map in the “Service” section.

Note: If credit amounts to less than 3.00 euros, a notification will automatically be sent to the contact email address held for you.

Loss report

What do I do if I lose my CampusCard?

The CampusCard can be reported lost at any time via your user account on bildungscampus.life in the “Lost CampusCard” section. As such, the card is blocked and the printing of a replacement card is initiated. Please note: The printing of a replacement card may be subject to fees. If it is not possible to block the card via the platform, the loss of the CampusCard can also be reported to the issuing institution in exceptional cases. Blocking the card without delay is necessary to prevent unauthorized access and protect from misuse of credit and other functions. When the replacement card is issued, all settings including the previous credit balance are automatically transferred to the new card.

I have found a CampusCard. Where can I turn in the card?

The CampusCard can be handed in at any time to the reception desk of the Schwarz Campus Service at Bildungscampus 9 or dropped off in the mailbox there. If it is not possible to drop it off on site, you can send an email to campuscard*Den Text zwischen den * loeschen, dies ist ein Spamschutz*@mail.schwarz with the following information: Institution, first and last names, and campus ID of the CampusCard found.

Guests & Use

What is the guest card?

In the canteen and café as well as at all snack and coffee vending machines on the Bildungscampus, cashless payment is made using the Bildungscampus CampusCard. Visitors to the campus may purchase a guest card against a deposit of 5.00 euros. This can be done at all CampusCard top-up terminals with cash and bank card payment, e.g., in the canteen, the LIV library or in the FORUM. Click here for all locations of the CampusCard top-up terminals: Site map.

Guest cards can be topped up with credit directly at the terminals. There, it is also possible to return the guest card and have the remaining credit and deposit amount refunded. The guest card can be used for payment at the above-mentioned catering services. Access or entry authorizations are however not set up on the guest card. It is neither possible to borrow media. Click here for The Terms of Use of the Guest Card.

I live in one of the student residences of the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. May I pay for the services there using the Bildungscampus CampusCard?

No. The student residences are operated by the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg and are therefore not covered by the Bildungscampus CampusCard “virtual wallet”. In order to use the services of the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg, such as to pay for the use of the washing machines, you will receive a tenant’s guest card from your Contact Person.

How does the 30-day ticket work?

The 30-day ticket is valid over 30 calendar days in a row of the same or two consecutive months and costs 40.00 euros. The desired starting date can be individually set during the booking process. The 30-day ticket may be booked in the “PaymentPortal” service area on bildungscampus.life.
Important: The ticket may not be purchased for use on the same day; it is valid on the following day at the earliest. To activate the ticket, it must always be used for an entry first. The ticket cannot be bought and then used for an exit.

Payment

How is payment of the parking fees effected?

CampusCard holders park at discounted rates. The credit balance can be topped up online in the ”PaymentPortal” service area on bildungscampus.life or at the on-site top-up terminals. Note: It is possible to set up automatic credit top-up on the CampusCard. Furthermore, CampusCard holders receive an email if the credit balance of the card falls below 3.00 euros.

The ticket is automatically stored on the CampusCard and is recognized by the card reader. Please note: The 10-day Flexticket may be used immediately after purchase. The 30-day ticket is only valid from the following day. If a 10-day Flexticket and a 30-day ticket are booked to the CampusCard, the 30-day ticket is automatically used first.

External Bildungscampus visitors receive a paper ticket at the barrier, and this has to be paid for at the ticket machine prior to exit.

I drew a paper parking ticket - may I pay for it using the CampusCard?

No. If a paper ticket is drawn, the ticket must be validated at the ticket machines prior to exit. Discounted parking rates in the designated parking facilities only apply, if the CampusCard is used at entry. In this case, payment is deducted from the credit balance of the CampusCard upon exit.

How can I obtain a receipt for paid parking fees?

An overview of all CampusCard transactions for the last 30 days is displayed in the PaymentPortal service area on bildungscampus.life using the “My transactions” function. If parking tickets are booked to the CampusCard, a small, blue “P” icon will appear on the right side of the respective line, through which you can open and download the receipt as a PDF document. In addition, each time a booking is made, email confirmation is sent.

FAQs Entry & Exit

How does entry and exit function?

Students and employees with a personalized CampusCard can hold the card against the card reader at the barrier to enter. Alternatively, the license plate number can be stored in the service area “PaymentPortal” (section “parking)”. Parking is then conveniently carried out via license plate recognition. In both cases, payment is made automatically on exit using the credit on the CampusCard. The credit balance can be topped up online in the ”PaymentPortal” service area on bildungscampus.life or at the on-site top-up terminals.

Important: Since the payment functions constitute an extended CampusCard service, additional terms of use apply to them. To start, register once in the service area "PaymentPortal" under bildungscampus.life to activate the payment function of your CampusCard. Only then is it possible to enter the parking facilities which are subject to fees with the CampusCard. The CampusCard must be validated on site and have a credit balance prior to exit. All CampusCard validation terminals can be found on the site map in the “Service” section.

Please note: You must always enter and exit with the identical medium. In other words: If you enter the parking facilities by using the license plate number, the license plate must also be used to exit. The same applies when entering with the CampusCard.

All parking facilities may be used by visitors to the Bildungscampus at the standard rates (paper ticket). You can find an overview of all rates and parking facilities on the Bildungscampus here.

From when on can the CampusCard be used to enter the parking facilities?

The CampusCard must be validated on site and have a credit balance prior to exit. All CampusCard validation terminals can be found on the site map in the “Service” section.

May I drive in and out as often as I like using a day-ticket, a 10-day-flexticket or a 30-day-ticket?

This varies depending on the ticket type:

With the day-ticket, unrestricted entries and exits within the daily rate (6 a.m. to 3 a.m.) are possible without additional fees. The same applies to the 10-day Flexticket. (In the period from 3 to 6 o'clock in the morning, the night rate applies at 3.00 euros / hour.)

The 30-day-ticket is valid for the day & night rate. An unlimited number of entries and exits are possible without additional fees for the validity of the parking ticket.

Is it possible to enter or exit the car park/parking facilities even if there is no credit or the credit balance of the CampusCard is insufficient?

Entry with the validated CampusCard or the license plate number stored in the service area “PaymentPortal” (section “parking)” is possible at all times. In order to exit, there must be sufficient credit on the CampusCard to cover the parking duration and the associated fees.

Note: Use the “Automatic top-up” function in the PaymentPortal service area on bildungscampus.life. When the credit balance of your CampusCard falls below an amount defined by yourself, the CampusCard will automatically be topped up by a previously defined amount. Furthermore, each CampusCard holder receives an email reminder as soon as the current credit balance falls below 3.00 euros.

I lost my CampusCard during the parking time. How can I drive out and which fees are incurred?

It is possible to leave the car park using a so-called “loss ticket”. These can be obtained at the parking terminals against payment of a fee.

The CampusCard can be reported lost online at any time via your user account on bildungscampus.life using the “Lost CampusCard” function. As such, the card is blocked and the printing of a replacement card is initiated.
Please note: The printing of a replacement card may be subject to fees.

Who is allowed to use the CampusStores?

Students and Bildungscampus staff members may use the shop.box and the collect.box. Students and Bildungscampus staff members will find this on their CampusCard.

Both apps are available by calling up shop.box and/or collect.box in the Google Play Store or in the Apple App Store and may be conveniently installed and set up at home.

Apple App Store
shop.box and collect.box

Google Play Store
shop.box and collect.box

How does shopping in the shop.box work?

The shop.box works just like a small cash and carry. In the course of this, access and billing of the purchases is settled via the shop.box app. The CampusCard ID is the prerequisite for registering in the app. Payment is made by credit card, which is deposited during registration or with Klarna. For Klarna, an existing account can be used or simply created during the registration process. Entry to the shop.box is granted via a QR code. When the shop.box app is open, a QR code may be generated by shaking the smartphone. The entrance as well as the QR code scanner needed for entry are located on the right-hand side. The QR code must be scanned here. When the door opens, access is only granted to the entry foyer. As soon as access to the shop.box is granted, shopping can begin.

In der shop.box wird das Smartphone nicht gebraucht. The smartphone is not needed inside the shop.box. You can shop normally by removing products from the shelf or replacing them. You may also use your own shopping bags. If a product is damaged, this may be placed in the storage compartment in the exit area. Shopping is ended automatically upon leaving the shop.box. All articles which leave the CampusStore are placed in the virtual shopping cart and are booked from the Klarna account by direct debit. The invoice may be viewed in the shop.box app or be sent by e-mail.

How does shopping in the collect.box work?

The collect.box comprises a modern goods vending machine. What is particularly interesting is that the goods can be selected on site at the terminal or may be conveniently put together and reserved via app. Registration in the collect.box app is necessary to shop on site or to reserve articles because it regulates access, collection of goods and billing. The CampusCard ID is necessary for registering in the app. Payment is effected using the Klarna account. This may be opened during the app registration. Existing accounts may also be used. Shopping on site takes place directly at the terminal. To do this, a QR code must first of all be generated in the app which is needed for login at the QR code scanner of the collect.box terminal. Afterwards, the desired articles may be selected and placed in the shopping basket. To finalize shopping, the shopping basket must be confirmed as normal. The shopping basket is processed immediately and made available at the goods collection point to be taken away.

If you know exactly which items you want to purchase, then you can conveniently tick off your shopping list via the app from anywhere. A shopping basket can be put together and reserved using the app. The reservation is valid for 24 hours. After that, the shopping basket must be confirmed and collected in the collect.box. To do this, the QR code of the reserved shopping basket is scanned at the terminal. If needed, it is possible to change the articles here. Once you've ticked off the complete shopping list, the order is confirmed at the terminal and everything is made available at the goods collection point to be taken away. Shopping ends automatically as soon as all articles have been issued in full. At this moment, direct debit billing of the shopping cart is initiated with Klarna. The invoice may be viewed in the collect.box app or be sent by e-mail.

Who can I approach with questions about the CampusStores?

Has a glass fallen down, isn’t the app working properly or is there a complaint about a purchase? The quickest way to report is via the contact options in the app. Two e-mail addresses have been set up for queries just in case the app is unavailable: support*Den Text zwischen den * loeschen, dies ist ein Spamschutz*@shopbox.schwarz and support*Den Text zwischen den * loeschen, dies ist ein Spamschutz*@collectbox.schwarz.
